Obituary of Samuel Brown

Samuel “Brother” Brown, 69, was born in Magnolia, AR, December 3rd, 1946, to the late Leonard Brown and Mattie L. Easter Brown. He departed this life on April 17, 2016. A graduate of Columbia High School, he lived and worked in the area for many years, until relocating to Houston, where he retired after thirty years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Department. Samuel was an easy going man who believed in God, honest work, and family. He often taught those younger than he that you should never quit a job without having another to take its place, because it was far better to work at a job you hated that to be unemployed. He returned to Magnolia, under the watchful eyes of his sisters when his health failed and later came to call Wentworth his home. He was a fun loving, dependable guy whose presence will be truly missed by all who came to know him, but most especially by his three sons: Jerry Don Tate of Shreveport, Louisiana, Wayne Hunter of Dallas, Texas, and Marquee Brown of Houston, Texas, five grandchildren, and four sisters: Mary Louise Goode, Jesse May Hill, Georgia Ann White, Mary Ann Gilmore all of Magnolia. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the A.C. Henderson Memorial Chapel, 614 Calhoun Rd, Magnolia, with Rev. Billy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Washington St, Magnolia, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, April 22, from noon until 4:00 p.m. Online guestbook available at www.hendersonsmortuary.com.
