Obituary of Joe Ann Carter

Joe Ann Carter, 75, of Magnolia, AR, died Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Born in Magnolia, AR, Joe Ann was the youngest of three children born to the late Robert and Elmina Griffin on the blessed day of November 5, 1948.

Joe Ann was a thoughtful, kind, and loving spirit who left an indelible mark on all that she encountered.  She served as the conscience of the Griffin family, always ensuring the family maintained unity and sensibility in times of trouble and stress.  She worked as a private caregiver for most of her adult life, for as long as her health allowed.  Selflessly, she never failed to offer a smile or a kind word no matter what she was going through.  Even in her last days, her empathic nature made her focus more on the wellbeing of others then dwelling too much on her declining health.  Joe Ann always wanted to make sure that everyone she loved was doing well spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her siblings: Shirley Jackson and James “Bill” Griffin, and husband: James Carter.

Celebration of Joe Ann’s life and memories will be cherished by her daughter: Sheryl Jackson-Hunter; her granddaughter: Elundra Jackson; five great-grandchildren: Elijah, Diara, Amenia, Nevaeh, and Zion; her brother: Otha Griffin of Los Angeles, CA; her sister: Patricia Griffin of Jacksonville, AR; her niece: Deana Griffin (Don) of North Little Rock, AR; her nephews:  Thermon Jackson of Chesapeake, VA, Kelsey Griffin (Leola) of Houston, TX, and Rob Jackson of Austin, TX; as well a host of extended family (including Peggy Morris), classmates, and close friends.
