John Wesley Hunter 1936-2024
When I moved back to Magnolia, Arkansas in 2007 John Hunter was one of the nicest people I met. I made him part of my “family”. I admired his gentle way of looking at life. He had retired from his school work so I hired him to keep the outside of my property looking nice. He kept it immaculate. I was really impressed with him. I would make sure he and his work crew were well fed while working around my home. I would buy a big bucket of chicken and provide dessert. After about one year Mr. Hunter looked me in the face and told me “I don’t like fried chicken”!!! What I said, why didn’t you tell me? We got a good laugh out of that. I made sure he got a sausage dinner after that! As time passed his health got worse. I would check on him at his house. I grew to respect him and worried about him when I moved back to Georgia. So, I was sad to read about his demise on Magnolia Reporter. RIP John Hunter. Charles Bailey

Thank you for sharing this memory. I often asked him was he black because of his dislike for chicken. He stated as a child he had to get up during the middle of the night to kill them for supper. So as he grew, he strongly didn't want to eat it. I hope the memory helps you as your memory helped me. May God continue to bless you.
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of our friend, John. We have many fond memories of working with him at Magnolia Public Schools. What a practical joker he was! He will certainly be missed.
