Obituary of Torrine D. Talley
Torrine D. Presley Talley, age 90, of 70 Columbia 428, Magnolia died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at home in Magnolia. Mrs. Talley was born February 22, 1922 in Kerlin, AR. She is the fifth daughter of the late Charlie and the late Ever Johnson Presley.
Sister Torrine received her education and graduated from West Grammer School in Magnolia, AR. She was a veteran of World War II where she served in the United States Army as a WAC. She trained at Fort Des Moines, IA and Fort Riley, KS, as a nurse assistant. Upon her discharge she was awarded a good conduct medal.
Soon after discharge from the service, she married Jessie Talley and one child was born to this union. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. As a faithful member, she attended church until her health failed. Sister Torrine was a unique woman, who was very humble, easy-going, and very independent. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by the many whose lives she touched along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Verester Presley, four sisters; Amma Presley Prather, Ann Presley, Flossie Presley Flanigan, Mary Presley Washington, and one brother, George Kimbell. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Winston (MaeDell) Talley; three granddaughters; ToJuana Talley, Teresa Tucker, and Valeka Scott, one grandson; Cardero Talley, all of Magnolia, three great grandsons; Trae Talley of Magnolia, Ceddaren and CJ Foreman of Dallas, TX, one sister, Betty LaMothe of Chicago, IL, adopted daughters, Sarah Calton and Naomi Shepherd, both of Magnolia, adopted brother/cousin John W. Kimbell and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, , Magnolia, AR with Pastor Wendell Colen officiating. Eulogist will be Pastor J. C. Phillips.
