Obituary of Bernice Ferguson
Bernice Green Ferguson was born November 7, 1930 to the late Freeman Green and the late Mozell (Jackson) Washington in Magnolia, Arkansas. She departed this life on Friday, November 9, 2012 surrounded by family at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Trinity C.M.E. Church where she served faithfully as a Stewardess, a memeber of the Senior Choir and served as a member of the Kitchen Committee. Bernice's faith in God was predicated in her belief that "The Lord Will Make a Way Somehow." She was educated at Columbia County School.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Waffer Ferguson Sr. on June 3, 1952 and to this union seven children were born.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories four sons: Waffer Ferguson Jr. and Andrew Ferguson of Magnolia, Arkansas; Theartis (Dorothy) Ferguson of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Tony (Conita) Ferguson of Easton, Pennsylvania; four daughters: Doris Gash of Hawthorne, California; Elsie Ferguson of Magnolia, Arkansas; Gloria (Earl) Thomas of Camden, Arkansas; and Marilyn (Haywood)Davidson of Melbourne, Florida; five sisters: Louise Jones of Camden, Arkansas, Mary Washington of Stephens, Arkansas, Patricia Washington and Linda Kay Green Harper both of Magnolia, Arkansas; Virginia Ray (Roy) Green-Wyrick of Dallas, Texas; three brothers: Marcellus Washington of Dallas, Texas; Jessie James Burton of Saginaw, Michigan and Freeman Green, Jr of Tennessee. One aunt, Siggent Davis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Vera (Nathaniel) Biddle of Texarkana, Texas; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special caregiver, Marilyn Harden, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Bernice loved to cook and bake. She was the cook at 66 Kitchen until she retired. Both family and restaurant customers would drive for miles to partake of her stellar coconut, lemon and chocolate pies. One of her favorite passions was to see which one of her sons or sons-in-law would be the last man eating during our many family holiday meals.
We will miss you Momma, Granny, Sister, Niece, Friend...until we meet again. Visitation will be Thurday, November 15, 2012, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Henderson's Mortuary, 614 Calhoun Rd., Magnolia.
