Obituary of Claude E Henderson

Claude Edward Henderson, age 65, of 67 Columbia 301, Magnolia died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at home in Magnolia. Mr. Henderson was born March 20, 1947 in Magnolia, AR. He is the son of the late Claude and the late Lucille (Griffin) Henderson. He was united in holy matrimony to Reverend Ruby Easter Wilson on July 4, 1986. Mr. Henderson was a devout and faithful Christian, serving his church in the capacity of teacher in Sunday School, Bible Study, and Children's Church, and as a dedicated usher. He was nominated as a delegate to the Arkansas Regional Conference, and served as Vice President of the Arkansas Regional Ministers Spouses Association. He served faithfully at various churches in which his wife, Rev. Ruby Henderson, pastored, giving her ministry his full support until his health failed. His dedication will be sorely missed. He served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 05/28/1965 to 03/28/1969, and continued as a Reservist in the Marine Corp of Engineers. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal W/2*, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Rifle Marksmanship Medal. He was formerly employed by Sun Chemical as an Ink Technician. He was honored in 2009 as the First Black In-Plant Technician at Bemis Bag Plant located in Crossett, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Griffin Henderson, his father, Claude Henderson, and two brothers, John L. and Chester Henderson. His memory is cherished by his wife: Minister Ruby (Easter) Henderson , one daughter: O'Breana Edwernice Wilson-Henderson and one son: Alex (Camilla) Wilson Henderson all of Magnolia, AR. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Danielle Wilson of Dallas, TX; Bianca Alexandria of Camden, AR, Freddie Carter of Stephens, AR, Alicia Carter of Magnolia, AR, and one brother, Thornell (Pearl) Henderson of Crestview, FL, four sisters-in-law, Pearl Henderson, Veria (Willie B.) Daniel, Gertrude (John) Wafer, Vivian Henderson, one brother-in-law, John L. Easter of Lufkin, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Columbia Baptist District Center, Youngblood Auditorium, Magnolia, AR. Burial will follow in Mt. Israel Cemetery, Emerson, AR under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.
