Obituary of Elton Bryant

On Monday, May 20, 2013, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called home His faithful servant Bro. Elton Bryant. Bro. Elton was born in Summerfield, LA on July 7, 1941, to the late Mrs. Ora Lee (Williams) Jenkins and step-father, Mr. Ben Jenkins. Bro. Elton accepted Christ at an early age at Free Union Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia, AR. He later moved to Dallas where he, along with his wife Martha, lovingly nurtured his family. Elton and Martha (Hayes) were married April 25, 1964 and remained so for 49 years. On this journey we call life, it's not always easy. Bro. Elton had to face his challenges head-on, and with his perseverance and tremendous faith in God, he made it. He touched all those who he came in contact with and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. His life speaks for itself! Even during his failing health he demonstrated his love for his family, especially his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora Lee and Ben Jenkins; infant son, Stacy Bryant; and two sisters, Pearlie Runyon and Classie Young. More than anything he loved Christ first and then his family who he leaves to mourn his passing; a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Martha Bryant; two sons, Amon Rashidi and Danny Bryant; two daughters, Patricia Bryant and Cathy (Jesse) Tate; one-brother, Andrew (Rose Mary) Kirkendoff; 13-grandchildren; 2-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff and nurses at Treemont Nursing & Rehab Center and those from Hospice Plus for all of their loving care of Bro. Elton throughout his illness. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Free Union Missionary Baptist Church, Magnolia, AR, with Rev. Billy Williams, Pastor/Eulogist. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Magnolia, under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 23.
