Obituary of Sr. Harris

Sammie L Harris, Sr., age 99, of 1021 Columbia 29, Magnolia died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Magnolia Regional Health Center of Magnolia, AR. Mr. Harris was born April 9, 1915 in Homer, LA. He is the son of the late John and the late Lucy (Edwards) Harris. He married Girtha Strickland. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, eight brothers, two sons, and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife: Girtha (Strickland) Harris , three daughters: Margaret Harris and Sabrina Harris Thomas of Magnolia, AR, Robinnette Harris of Haynesville, LA, and two sons: Sammy Harris Jr. of Magnolia, AR, Jeffrey Harris of Fordyce, AR; two brothers: Naymon (Clarice) Harris of Muskegon, MI, Thurman "Pick" (Ethel) Harris of Magnolia, AR; thirteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 20 at Mt. Pleasant AME, Col Rd 29, Magnolia, AR with Rev. Angela Smith, Pastor, officiating. Rev. Roger Thomas will be the eulogist. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Magnolia under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.
