Herman was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. He was the first Black member of the Magnolia Jaycees. Always hard working, he work many hats. He was a very reputable DJ both locally and abroad, although his greatest love was electrical work. He became known as the "Local and affordable Appliance Man" who was adored by the community.
Obituary of Herman Cooper
Herman Cooper, Jr., age 63, of Magnolia died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center of Little Rock, AR. Mr. Cooper was born October 9, 1952 in Magnolia, AR. He is the son of the late Herman, Sr., and the late Ernestine (Gantt) Cooper.
Herman was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. He was the first Black member of the Magnolia Jaycees. Always hard working, he work many hats. He was a very reputable DJ both locally and abroad, although his greatest love was electrical work. He became known as the "Local and Affordable Appliance Man" who was adored by the community.
He is survived by one son: Kenneth (San) Cooper of Haynesville, LA; two daughters: Tina Cooper and Tiki Cooper, both of Little Rock, AR; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother: Joe Cooper of Magnolia, AR; and one sister: Ruby Gracie (Greg) Miller of Little Rock, AR.
The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 9 at Columbia Baptist District Center, Youngblood Auditorium, Magnolia, AR with Rev. Billy Williams officiating. Burial will be in 23 Psalms Cemetery, Magnolia under the direction of Henderson Funeral Service.
Visitation will be Friday, July 8 from 5-7pm at the funeral home, 614 Calhoun Rd, Magnolia, AR. Online guestbook available at www.hendersonsmortuary.com.
